The Department provides assistance in checking and searching for documents confirming the presence or absence of Jewish roots.

Based on the results of the work, the Rabbinical Court can issue an internationally recognized court decision on the applicant's Jewish status.

How does this work?
•The applicant applies through the application form;
Next, the Rabbinical Court:
•Studies the application and the submitted questionnaire with the scanned documents sent and a detailed, clear description of the situation;
•If necessary, requests additional documents/information from the applicant in writing or by telephone;
•The Court may hold an online meeting with the applicant;
•The court fills out the necessary documents: a questionnaire of the applicant (not to be confused with the questionnaire on the website) and a family tree;
•After receiving a complete package of documents (their set is individual in each case), the case is transferred to the Court to analyze the possibility of issuing a court decision confirming the applicant’s Jewishness;
•If NOT all the necessary documents are submitted, the Court discusses with the applicant the tactics for conducting the case: what documents need to be provided, where they can be requested (found), how to prepare requests, etc.;
•If the documents from the previous point are collected, the case is transferred to the Rabbinical Court, which, if there are grounds, issues a decision on the establishment of the applicant’s Jewishness, which immediately comes into force, is not subject to appeal, and has international force.
