CONVERSION
(GIYUR)

icons_edited.png

The Rabbinical Court conducts the conversion procedure.

An applicant who is not of Jewish nationality or who does not have sufficient documents confirming it undergoes this procedure under the supervision of the Rabbinical Court rabbis .

If the applicant successfully completes it, he receives a decision from the Court on his acceptance into Judaism, i.e. he becomes a full-fledged part of the Jewish people - a Jew.

How does this work?

•An applicant wishing to undergo conversion signs up for an initial interview at the Conversion Department of the Rabbinical Court;
•The department is examining the appeal;
•If the application is accepted, the Department will establish a course of training for the applicant, which in most cases is required;
•Upon completion of the first stage of training, the Department issues a recommendation to open a case for conversion in the Rabbinical Court;
•The court sets a date for the hearing of the applicant's case;
•After a successful court hearing or hearings, the Court makes a positive decision;
•A woman immerses in a mikvah, and a man is circumcised and immerses in a mikvah;
•The applicant has been living in a Jewish community for one year after the above;
•The applicant goes through a final court hearing in the Rabbinical Court in order to obtain an internationally recognized document confirming the applicant's Jewishness (Certificate of Jewishness).
